World Breaking Championship

Bone-jarring breaking — concrete, boards, and world records under the lights.

Overview

The World Breaking Championship gathers the strongest and fastest breakers on the planet demonstrating power, speed, and creative breaking at IMAF.

Athletes from every style compete side by side, with record attempts sanctioned on the floor and decided in front of the full festival crowd.

Divisions & Format

Qualifying rounds run Friday and Saturday by division; record attempts and grand championships take the main stage Sunday.

Power Breaking

Maximum stations of concrete or boards broken with a single technique.

Speed Breaking

Fastest clean break of a suspended board, timed electronically.

Creative Breaking

Choreographed breaking judged on difficulty, execution, and showmanship.

Youth Breaking

Age-appropriate materials and station counts for ages 7–17.

Women's Divisions

Full power, speed, and creative brackets for female competitors.

World Record Attempts

Sanctioned attempts verified by official measurers and judges.

Rules & Judging

  • All breaking materials are supplied and measured by the event; competitor-supplied materials are not permitted.
  • Spacers, holders, and stations are set and verified by officials before each attempt.
  • Power divisions score total completed breaks; incomplete or cracked-but-unbroken material does not count.
  • Creative breaking is judged on difficulty, technique variety, execution, and presentation, with judges dropping high and low scores.
  • Competitors get a fixed number of attempts per station; touching or resetting material after the call forfeits the attempt.
  • Medical staff must clear any competitor who sustains an injury before further attempts.
