Overview

The ITF America Open Championships bring General Choi's Taekwon-Do to IMAF with the full ITF competition program: patterns and sparring.

Open to ITF practitioners of all ranks and all national organizations.

Individual events run by rank and age group on Saturday

Patterns (Tul)

Designated and optional patterns appropriate to competitor rank.

Sparring (Matsogi)

Semi-contact continuous sparring by weight, rank, and gender.

Rules & Judging

  • Competition follows current ITF rules for patterns, sparring, power, and special technique.
  • Patterns are scored on technique, power, balance, breath control, and rhythm by a panel of certified umpires.
  • Sparring is semi-contact; excessive contact, attacks to illegal targets, and falling draw penalties or disqualification.
  • Approved ITF-style foot and hand protectors, mouthguard, headgear, and groin guard are mandatory for sparring.
  • A clean ITF dobok with correct badges and rank markings is required for all events.
  • Umpire decisions are final; protests must be lodged in writing with the tournament committee within the posted window.
